The Grants Office manages over $85 million in grant revenue and partners with the College community to seek new funding from foundations, corporations, and state and federal agencies.

The Grants Office supports and advances the mission of Goodwin College by seeking funding for College initiatives. Grant funding helps start new programs and supports infrastructure so that the College can provide a first-rate educational experience to its students. The Grants Office provides the College community with information, guidance, resources and technical assistance related to grants, such as faculty training.

Recent awards:

$600,000 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for brownfields cleanup on campus property
$300,000 Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to support MOVE program
$292,050 U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration for equipment for nursing and health sciences labs
$120,203 Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund for nursing retention program
$100,000 Balfour Foundation to benefit ConnCAP/Bridge to Success program
$97,000 ConnCAP program to support the College’s operational program costs for four years
$75,000 Connecticut Department of Higher Education to help plan the new Connecticut River Academy magnet school
$70,845 (including $21,595 in 2009 federal stimulus funding) U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration to provide scholarships for nursing students
$50,000 Pratt & Whitney to sponsor week-long visit of tall ship Half Moon and youth education programming on the ship
$40,000 National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to clean up debris from the College’s river docks and restore fish and wildlife habitats
$30,000 Northeast Utilities/CL&P to purchase equipment for environmental studies program
$2,500 Connecticut Department of Higher Education to benefit Campus Compact program (CNA Study Skills)
$950,000 U.S. Department of Transportation for road improvements leading to the River Campus

Other funding includes $80 million from the State Department of Education for construction of the new Connecticut River Academy (magnet high school) and the Pathways to Technology Magnet School, as well as to build a state-of-the-art preschool center.
