Accessing Goodwin Library Databases
Using A Virtual Private Network
Student ID:
The Student ID is composed of:
1. First Initial of your First Name
2. Your complete Last Name
For example: Alex Goodwin's student id is "AGoodwin"

Student Password:
The Student Password is:
1. Your Student ID number
This ID number is issued by Goodwin College to every student and
can be found at the top of your class schedule
For example: “123450”

The Goodwin LAN User Name:
A combination of the Goodwin Student ID and Password
For example: Alex Goodwin's student id is "AGoodwin" and his password is "123450"
Alex Goodwin's LAN User Name is “AGoodwin123450”

Setting Up Your Computer:
1. Open Internet Explorer browser program
2. From the top menu bar, select "Tools", then "Internet Options"
3. The "Internet Options" window opens, then click on the "Connections" tab
4. The "Connections" window opens, then click "Add"
(You will be adding a new network connection)
5. The "New Connection Wizard" window opens, choose the Type of Connection radio button
"Connect to a Private Network through the Internet", and click "Next"
6. The "VPN Server Selection" window opens, then enter "66.152.239.6" in the box,
and click "Next"
7. The "Finish" window opens, then enter "Goodwin College" in the box,
and click "Finish"
8. The "Goodwin College Settings" window opens and you must now enter your LAN information
a. "Automatically detect settings" box should be checked
b. "Use proxy server..." box should NOT be checked
c. Dial up settings
In User name box, enter your Goodwin LAN User Name (ie. AGoodwin123450)
In Passwork box, enter your student password (ie. 123450)
In Domain box, enter "Student"
d. Click "OK"
9. Close the Internet Explorer browser program
10. Open the Internet Explorer browser program again
11. The "Dial-up Connection" window opens, then select "Connect"
12. A new Internet Explorer window will open and connect you to the Goodwin College Network
13. You may now connect to ICONN academic databases (www.iconn.org)

1. Will setting up a new network connection interfere with my existing connection to the Internet?
No, there will simply be an extra step. When you open Internet Explorer, a window will pop up where you
will choose either your regular connection or the Goodwin College connection.
