Summer Bridge
The Goodwin College Office of
Continuing Education and Community
Relations is offering an annual high
school-to-college transition program
titled “Summer Bridge.” The program
began in July 2008. Applications are
currently being accepted for summer
2009.
By design, this program seeks to bridge the gap between high
school and college. The mission of the program is to prepare recent
high school graduates and/or recent Adult Education graduates with
the intellectual stimulation, social responsibilities and leadership
development they need to succeed in college.
Approximately 90 students were recruited to enroll in this
program during its first year. This tuition-free program provides
the opportunity for enrolled students to earn up to seven credits
toward an Associate in Science degree at Goodwin College. The
coursework revolves around the following classes:
- SCI 102 - Environmental Science (3 credits)
- SOC 110 Contemporary Social Problems (3 credits)
- MUSIC 101 - Contemporary Music (3 credits)
- CAP 100 Computer Literacy (3 credits)
- SPAN 101 Spanish 1 (3 credits)
- ASD 100 Study Skills for College Success (1 credit)
