Setup a VPN Connection for Macintosh

Follow the steps below to set up a VPN connection:

Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) and Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

 

Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) and Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

Select Applications => Internet Connect.

Select File => New VPN Connection window.

Note: If this is the first time you have created a new VPN connection, a window similar to the following will appear:

Select PPTP, then click Continue. A window similar to the following will appear:

Type 66.152.239.6 into the Server address: field.
Type your User Name (First Initial Last Name) into the Account Name: field.
Type your password (StudentID) into the Password: field.
Click Connect. A window similar to the following will appear:

Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

1.  Open System Preferences by going to Apple>System Preferences.

2.  Select the Network icon in the System Preferences window.

3.  Select the + button at the bottom left of the screen to add a new connection.

4.  Select the following:
a. Interface: VPN
b. VPN Type: PPTP
c. Service Name: Goodwin College
d. Select Create.

5.  Click the arrows to the right Configuration and select Add Configuration from the drop down menu.

6.  Enter Goodwin in the Name field and select Create.

7.  From Network window enter the following information:
a. Server Address: 66.152.239.6
b. Account Name: enter your first initial last name
c. (Optional) Check the Show VPN status menu bar box if you would like to start the VPN connection from your menu bar, otherwise you will need to open System Preferences.

 

8.  Click the Advanced button.

9.  Select Options. Verify Send all traffic over VPN connection is checked .

10.  Click the OK button.

11.  Click the Apply button.
